"Modernism and the Decorative Arts are the historical veins that I am immersed in. I study the history of the bourgeois and its relationships with decoration, craft, and beauty. I am enchanted by French brocaded silks from the 17th and 18th century, Sevres porcelain, wallpapers, Rococo and Baroque Architecture. Emotions, memories, and anxiety mostly pave the way when it comes to mood and palette. I want to make work that is deep and narrow with a wide breath and reach. I want to invoke thoughts of the last flowers of Manet, the crucifixion, death and the maiden, pennies from heaven, your grandmothers seashell soaps, and Malibu Barbie."
